AMERICAN WOMEN OF SCIENCE

It will surprise many girls to find here how many and varied are the contributions of women to science. These brief biographies of such women as Ellen H. Richards, first President of American Home Economics Association, Annie Jump Cannon, astronomer, Lillian Moller Gilbreth, management engineer, Katharine Burr Blodgett, research physicist and Margaret Mead, anthropologist, and others, give some idea of the scope of women's achievements. There is an unfortunate sameness in the delineation which fails to accent important differences among these women. But the book has nevertheless importance as encouragement and vocational stimulation to girls thinking of science careers.
