KIRKUS REVIEW

A book for a rather limited audience. It virtually demands a musical background, and an interest in a study of Beethoven in relation to his contemporaries and to the period, rather than the man himself. More space and emphasis is given to the discussion of his compositions than his life. The book -- to the layman --adds nothing to previous books on the subject.
