The editors of Commentary, concerned with the condition of Jewish belief today, posed five questions in extenso to fifteen Reform, twelve Convervative, and eleven Orthodox rabbis. Here they respond to: (1) In what sense do you believe the Torah to be divine revelation? (2) In what sense do you believe that the Jews are the chosen people of God?(3) Is judaism the one true religion or is it one of several true religions? (4) Does Judaism as a religion entail any particular political viewpoint? (5) Does the so-called ""God is dead"" question have any relevance to Jewish thought? The speculative person concerned with the life of Judaism will want to know what these men have to say; so may an extended audience of vocationally religious Christians and Jews.
