The text as such is remarkably frank, considering the relationship between the editors and their subject. The text most actively dilates upon Allied strategy in World War II, though all this has been done mere thoroughly elsewhere. Perhaps the book's main strength is in its rehumanising the General, who was to Zane Grey what Kennedy was to Ian Fleming. When Dwight David grew up in Abilene, this town happened to have been Wild Bill Hickok' s favorite roosting spot... Perhaps his reading matter led to Ike's ineptitude later as a political orator.
