Not a scientific blueprint or reference outline, this is a series of essays on fishing for pan fish (sunnies, bluegills, perch, bullheads, crappies and catfish); picke, pike, muskies, bass, trout; salmon. These give the author's experiences the country over and include the teachings he has had from others; they add up to the sum total of his engling knowledge and are written from the delight of memory. There are other chapters on the mechanics of fishing, fly and bait casting, tackle, what to wear and carry in fair and foul weather, keeping and preparing and cooking your catch. The final section is on the future of fishing in which the need for public awareness of the dangers ahead, plans for conserving and stocking the waters, programs for stream management, are the responsibility of the individual sportsman in agitating for local and state activities. This is for those that want fun with their fishing -- a well as expert guidance.
