THE FABULOUS WILSON MIZNER by Edward Dean Sullivan

THE FABULOUS WILSON MIZNER

A bid for sales to the sensation-loving American public. Badly written, illiterate -- inexcusably so -- carelessly edited -- hastily thrown together. Some chapters by Mizner, others by Sullivan, an excerpt from one of the plays, on which Mizner collaborated, a chapter of ""Miznerisms"" (pretty dull), and a lot of space fillers. An indefensible book, so far as quality and taste go. But it has interest, amusement, color; there is Broadway, horse racing, the rough and tumble of mining camps, prize fighting, gambling, the stage and screen. Mizner was a character -- the black sheep of his family -- a wit -- an adventurer. Night Club Era market -- though not so good.
