KIRKUS REVIEW

Probably as true a picture of the country and life as is possible in an adventure story of two Mongol boys, patriots, and their experiences acting as guides for opium traders. It seems incredibly mediaeval, but the time is presumably fairly recent. The story is laid during the time that Mongolia was planning an uprising against Russia, following the release, through Russia, from the Chinese yoke. A better integrated book than Beyond the Great Wall.
