THE WISDOM OF THOMAS JEFFERSON by Edward ed. Roykin

THE WISDOM OF THOMAS JEFFERSON

By

Pub Date: April 18th, 1941
Publisher: Doubleday, Doran

Anthology of Jefferson, from three lines to thousands of words, classified under usable headings, and covering every conceivable subject:- life, education, morals, government, dictatorships, democracy, honesty, state and federal government, value of rebellion, Pan-Americanism, prevision of the Monroe Doctrine, plea for unity with Britain, freedom of the seas. Yes, even the Third Term issue is there, and non-intervention in foreign wars, and compulsory military training, and public debt, and freedom of the press. Personal things like religion and slavery. Personalities like Washington and Honaparte. Finally ending with the Jefferson Bible, which is a running text drawn from the actual Bible text. Good pickings for after dinner speakers, politicians, etc. Reveals a brilliant and searching mind. I wonder what he would have said along some of these lines today?
