THE SCREEN ARTS

A book on TV and films issued by a Catholic press is of particular interest to high school and college students, parents and teachers, at a time when the church is exercising censorship in regard to certain areas of the screen arts. This establishes a standard- a guide to appreciation -- a measuring stick of taste for proper enjoyment of the film media. He contends that the moral problem here relates more to time-wasting and to saturating oneself with inartistic fare than with isolated offensive sequences flashed on the screen. The text is illustrated liberally with examples to prove his point. An Appendix deals with formation of study groups and a listing of pertinent questions.
