LIGHT OVER RUBY STREET by Edward Harris Heth

LIGHT OVER RUBY STREET

By

Publisher: Smith & Durrell formerly Harrison-Hilton

A slight book, of limited interest, but artistically handled. In musical dialect, a portrayal of life on Ruby Street, fairly typical poor Negro quarter is an eastern city, revolves around the family of Aggie Jacks, and the hopes that center in almost white Julee. But Julee prefers Juvenile to the white men who wanted her. The childlike, pagan spirit of the race is skillfully caught, with their hope for betterment underlying a here-today-gone-tomorrow tempo and their unthinking emotionalism.
