There is the life outside the plant, the picture of the days of crude oil production, the clash as new ways come in, the close feeling of men for their jobs and their plant. First hand story of the drama of the works, with the human element well reported, and a somewhat technical approach to the plant itself. Less colored by the social aspects of the problem than, for example, the Halper books.
