KIRKUS REVIEW

We missed out on this. It was one of those pamphlets that was shot through the press in record time, and put on sale at once. Our excuse for reporting it now, when it is an old story to you, is to call the attention of the trade to a special sales proposition. In quantity lots (10 and up), set your own price, whatever the traffic will stand, with $1.00 maximum and $.60 minumum. Send the order to Viking to be shipped direct to the organization, and Viking will bill you at 40% off the price you have named. Already, group interest in the book has justified considering it as an item that should make a real contribution to the fight for democracy. How does this book differ from the dozens of books that have appeared on the subject of democracy? This is no defense of democracy in the abstract. This is a blue print for maintaining and strengthening and building on what we have. This is a how to go about doing your bit in your community. How to organize others to do something about it while there is yet time. This is no political pamphlet, but a realistic, practical plan for action that has nothing to do with war outside our borders, that is not involved in problems of isolation but that will strengthen our hands and uphold democracy's basic cause.
