What else can go wrong with the storied Westfield’s Men, the Elizabethan theater company managed by Nicholas Bracewell, in their 11th adventure (The Wanton Angel, 1999, etc.)? The English winter can drive its actors from the innyard that had kept them together; unemployment can menace them with extinction; and when they accept Sir Michael Greenleaf’s apparently providential invitation to perform six new plays in ten days at his well-appointed home, they’ll end up stuck with a mischievous new apprentice, Davy Stratton, tarred by another brush with murder, and accused of plotting with the forces of darkness.
