KIRKUS REVIEW

The subject and the handling of it given here should guarantee this book plenty of mileage. Addressed to the spectator rather than to the participant, the text, which is liberally supplemented with photographs, fills in all the details from fire up to shut down which pertain to the various types of formal drag racing competitions-- the cars, the strips, the special requirements, the events, the judging. The careful stress on the rigid safety measures required for any official competing makes this acceptable to the suspicious adult who associates drag racing purely with adolescent misbehavior. The combination glossary-index is an additional useful device for this book. Boys will rev up to this.
