Hard to see the sale of this, in spite of the fact that it is well written and good reading, of its kind. A leisurely English story of a day and a half in a small English town, where interest revolves around the death of a stranger in the highest ranking bawdy house, and of the problems in the lives of a good many of the inhabitants involved in the disposition of the corpse...The story is told almost in essay style, with side excursions into philosophy.
