THE NORSE DISCOVERIES AND EXPLORATIONS IN AMERICA

A scientific, deductive analysis of what has been a source of debate and disagreement for 240 years, the identifications of the various landfalls made by the voyagers to Vinland. Reman, a serious scholar and experienced navigator, examines here both the Greenland and Icelandic versions of the sagas (the texts are partially included here) and on the basis of new climatological evidence, places the landfalls in the expeditions of Leif Eiriksson, Thorvald Eiriksson- his brother, and Thorfinn Karlsefni- the colonizer... Whether Reman's identifications will meet with final acceptance or not cannot be foretold, his findings are very controversial, and his work is for a highly specialized audience.
