24 HORSES: A Treasury of Stories

A collection of stories from magazines and books by well-known authors. Although the selections are briefer than those in Horses, Horses, Horses (P. 59 1949), there is a goodly company of equinnes here -- Will James' Smokey, the resourceful Hildebrand, a moppet of a pony who somehow brought people together, and even Bucephalus, the horse of Alexander the Great. An impressive line-up of authors, too -- G. P. Meek, Marguerite Henry, Cornelia Meiga Walter Farley, Elizabeth Coatsworth, Lincoln Steffins, Will James, and others.
