THE RAG PICKER OF PARIS or The Modest Modista Revised and re-edified by Christopher Morley

Old time theatre, more to be read than seen (unless it could be adapted to burlesque revival as in the not very different Streets of New York). A rag picker adopts an orphan child, who grows up beautiful, virtuous and poor. A Beau Brummel falls in love with her, and -- after an interim of scandal -- wealth and society are brought to face justice and the modest modiste gets her money and her man. Old School villain -- old school heroine, Victorian melodrama, inspired by current French theatre. Limited market.
