Two doctors in public health service discuss the role of psychiatry in present day prison work. The book is an unfortunate straddle, neither popular in presentation, nor sufficiently technical for medicos. The first few chapters cover briefly historical aspects of prison, reforms, innovations, etc., and the current conflict between necessary administrative measures and true reformation of individuals, the need for discipline and regimentation versus psychological treatment. The bulk of the book covers the primary psychological types of criminals; the last part specific psychological problems. Interesting material not too well handled.
