KIRKUS REVIEW

Slim story content for a background of the early life and days of Buddha who saves the life of a herdboy and converts him and a bandit chief to the Way. The story follows the adventures of the growing bands of disciples, as the religion makes headway against obstacles. History and religion of India in a sensitively presented story form. Not a book for everyone, but should appeal to those demanding something different with unusual background and theme, skilfully handled.
