NEW ROADS TO RICHES

In The Other Americas -- or what South America has to offer. The author has covered the country and talked to innumerable people, and gives freely of his many experiences. There's enough background to get the suddent growth and current happenings into focus, there is a good feel of the institutions, customs, and particular ways of life in the countries discussed, there are plenty of anecdotes and not too heavily underscored records of Yankee shortcomings and grievances held against the United States, there are conversations with the high placed officials -- and the low, -- and they all combine to make colorful reading about the ""near neighbor"" so much in the limelight. A good book to read if you are going there.
