YOUR PLACE IN TV

Father Broderick is the Director of Radio and Television Communications for the Archdiocese of New York and writes clearly of his knowledge of the many careers open in television. But where factual content- on the wide variety of jobs open in the technical, administrative and creative branches of the mushrooming industry- is accurate, its presentation is pedestrian and the aims it inspires are in keeping with present day standards of programming that demand little more than a popular appeal. The book's value lies in its ""bird's eye view"" and its encouragement to the young to do even the hardest jobs- but it is short on criticism- and while it suggests doing educational work, places more of its emphasis on the traditional plot, advertising and the familiar big names.
