An excellent job of correlating the various schools of thought, tracing views such as held by Harnack, Schweitzer, Niebuhr, Dodd, etc., as well as attacking very sanely the school of humanism that overlooks the divine. Essentially a book for clergy, professors, teachers, social workers, although it is written clearly enough for the layman with some understanding of the background of this movement.
