KIRKUS REVIEW

This delightful scrap of nonsense appears to be flavored by the Rover Boys and S.J. Perelman, without losing the tang of vintage McDowell. Hubert Wellington Dorbett--Dorby to you--is the nonpareil cheerleader of a mythical New Jersey University who dropkicks a football with fearsome accuracy. Since drop-kicking is as obsolete as the flintlock rifle and this dual role involves him cheerleading in a red and white outfit while wearing one football shoe, one may infer that this is something of a tour de farce. The author skillfully presents an assortment of stereotypes and oddballs while keeping his tongue firmly in both cheeks. TC&T is his second book--the first being about Barry Goldwater. This one has got to be funnier.
