KIRKUS REVIEW

The author of Brown America (Viking) has consolidated his material and boiled it down to this slim little volume which should prove useful as a check on basic facts and figures:- historical background, health statistics, education, the arts, the Negro in industry, in professions, in domestic service, in business. There is a good bibliography (as always, one spots odd omissions, for instance Zora Neale Hurston). Timely and not too controversial.
