KIRKUS REVIEW

Set in Northern Minnesota, this is the account, by a young boy, of winter fishing with his grandfather. The little dark-house, through which a hole is drilled which opens onto the frozen lake and allows for ice fishing, is a mechanism of remarkable ingenuity. The child of the story describes the house in detail, lists the types of fish caught in that region during the winter season, and the implements used. He also conveys the excitement and coziness of fishing from the little dark-house.
