KIRKUS REVIEW

Good handbook for the constant attendant at symphonic concerts (or the constant listener to radio symphonic music), for here are year-round program notes- alphabetically arranged by author, on perhaps five to six hundred compositions. A brief line or two places the composition, defines it, indicates when and where it was first performed. Then follows brief, yet comprehensive, notes on the content, form, with biographical data, and occasional anecdotal bits to lend color.
