THE ROBBERY AT THE DIAMOND DOG DINER

When Glenda Feathers, a chicken in a polka-dotted skirt, delivers eggs to the Diamond Dog Diner, she tells Lola and Harry that she has heard that diamond thieves are in the neighborhood. Lola, who always wears her diamonds, yields to Glenda's advice to hide them in blown-out eggs in the refrigerator. But Glenda's big mouth gives the robbers the clues they need, and they take not only the eggs, but Glenda, too. Glenda is clever enough to get herself out of this pickle, even if the final development has a scatological twist: Lola eats some chocolates in which Glenda has finally hidden the diamonds, and Glenda says ""at least no robbers will ever find those diamonds."" Cartoony, colorful illustrations of anthropomorphic animals enliven the far fetched story.
