When Bert's pigs overhear him announcing to his wife Ethel that they are big enough for Market Day, they oink out a plan—on the way to be sold they escape from the truck, elude the search by blending in with the locals, and, in borrowed clothing, slip aboard a Florida-bound bus. Readers won't be able to stop giggling as they pick out plucky porkers tiptoeing through town toward the depot while Bert, Ethel, and the irritated townsfolk stand about, oblivious. Christelow's vigorous, broken-lined watercolors capture the story's humor and suspense perfectly. Months later, the post office receives a box of neatly folded clothing, plus a postcard message for Bert and Ethel: OINK! Great fun. (Picture book. 6-8)
