Danny MacDonagh, 15, and Pat Controy, a year older, of Inishrone, an island three miles off the coast of Connemara, near the mouth of Galway Bay, dared local fears and superstitions to explore the Island of Horses. They found that Mike Coffey, a bully, had made good uses of the island and its isolation for his own questionable motives. The boys are kidnapped by his agents before he is brought to justice, but they put a halt to horse thief Coffey's raids. A competent enough yarn about Ceite and stallions but of uneven interest.
