THE CHATELAINE COOKBOOK by Elaine Collett

THE CHATELAINE COOKBOOK

By

Pub Date: April 22nd, 1966
Publisher: Doubleday

Canada's only woman's magazine Chatelaine has for forty years provided recipes of which they have chosen 1600 here for an all-purpose, basic cookbook-- although one can hardly believe it would displace The Joy of Cooking or even Fannie Farmer. The book is utilitarian in that it provides shopping and preparing instructions, time charts, and indicates low cost or calorie on the individual recipes. The simpler ones seem more desirable than the fussier ones but tastes differ. Grape Chiffon Pie won an award in the Family Favorites contest. There's a chapter on freezing and preserving, entertaining, outdoor cooking and one with thirty minute meals.
