A PARROT IN A FLAME TREE

On each of the twelve days of Christmas ""my true love"" sends. . . an Australian animal in the proper number (i.e. ""four koalas cuddling"") and the proper meter but without any purpose but to echo the song: they can't (and don't) cumulate day by day nor do they comprise a conceivable (or amusing-to-conceive) gift. Kookaburras, currawongs, et al. in a modishly illustrated album -- or say a parasite up a tree.
