SURROGATE MOTHERS by Elaine Landau

SURROGATE MOTHERS

By

Pub Date: Oct. 15th, 1988
Publisher: Watts

Landau competently tackles a controversial topic, providing information on new fertility technologies and discussion of the legal, moral, emotional, and ethical considerations of surrogacy. Case studies include the recent ""Baby M"" case in New Jersey, which is explored in depth. Landau's presentation is evenhanded, with differing points of view expressed in direct quotations. Her text is readable, although sometimes technical; a glossary would have been helpful for identifying AID (artificial insemination by donor), IVF (in vitro fertilization), and surrogate embryo transfer babies. A credible effort on a timely topic. Illustrated with photos; source notes; bibliography; index.
