KIRKUS REVIEW

Tillicum is an Eskimo word for friend--here to teen-aged brothers Norman and Jonathan, orphaned when their parents died fording the Whitehorse Rapids, now operating a tramway to prevent more disasters as prospectors pass en route to the Klondike and gold. So Tillicum is their name for the reindeer saved by Jonathan from the wolves, who saves him in turn from death in the snow when the adventure, soon frozen into the mystery mold, leads the boys into a storm chasing killers. A real Yukon story of friends indeed until the icing gets thicker than the cake.
