KIRKUS REVIEW

Not only a book for those who tour New England, but good reading for those to whom New England is simply a section on the map. It is a travel book, yes; but it is much more. It is anecdotal, crammed with local lore, filled with bits of interest concerning famous people who are associated with the White Mountains one way or another. Should be a perennial in New England shops and a book that wide-awake bookshops elsewhere could sell to discriminating customers who are looking for the unusual in books of this type.
