A rounded history of The Woman's Rights Movement in the United States (the first), this book gives a general background of the conditions which led up to its emergence. Recording in considerable detail the hundred years of fermentation before its organized outbreak, the actual movement is then scrutinized: the fight for equal education, women in the professions, woman's infiltration into labor movements, the suffragette movement, women as legislators, women's role in changing sex mores. Concluding with the woman suffrage amendment in 1920, Century of Struggle gives a clear view of the outstanding feminine leaders and their particular contributions. An excellent source book for students of American history,- political, social, or economic.
