DAVY OF THE EVERGLADES

Episodic treatment for the life Davy led in the Everglades of Florida makes this a workable first reading book with short chapters that will not tire the beginner. Davy has high boots for the marshy places, he gets an alligator pet, his father runs a grocery store, which Davy gets a chance to mind, and he has Seminole Indian as well as other friends. There is a storm and a flood but all turns out well for Davy and his family. Again the easy, friendly introduction to unfamiliar places and the unaffected black and white full page and decorative spot drawings by the author give this a dependable quality.
