The Isle of Jersey, famous for its cattle, is the scene of this story laid at the turn of the century. Joan and Jerry Bannister are visitors from England and they meet Anne and Martin St. Lawes, whose father owns one of the finest herds on the island of prize herds. The four children have many little adventures, but their greatest interest is the cow, Princess. But Princess is bought and travels to America, where Fanny and Fred Barton of Stockbridge, Mass., learn to love their new pet, and to hope she will establish a record at the County Fair -- which, after due suspense, she does. An unusual pet story, and lots of information about cows.
