KIRKUS REVIEW

This might have the sort of success scored by I Went to Pit College if it gets off to a good start. The setting is the Great Smoky Mountains, not far from the North Carolina-Tennessee line. Human interest material of a girl's experiences as teacher of a mountain school that boasted a prowess in getting rid of teachers. A revelation of a section that is passing -- but that exists, in essentials, elsewhere in the Appalachians. Sell on human appeal -- on Americana -- on social problem and educational problem angle.
