TOMORROW IS NOW

Mrs. Roosevelt had a rare ability to communicate with young people wherever she went, and this- her last book -- may well go down as her testament of faith and her challenge to the youth of America to face the problem of building today the world of tomorrow. She feels there is inadequate grounding given young Americans in the history of the free spirit that built our country, the sense of pioneering, the philosophic basis of democracy, the men and women who created the USA. Succinctly the summarizes some of the salient factors. She is fearful of the current trend to conformity and examines the areas in which the answers lie:- education and the need for better teaching; the recognition of the social and economic revolution as areas where change demands flexibility, courage and imagination; the steps to a firmer understanding of and sympathy with the world beyond our doors; the wider use of the U.N. as the machinery for peace; the development of personal responsibility of the individual in whatever role he is cast. Here in a slim book she has presented her legacy to the country -- and particularly to youth.
