CHRISTMAS by Eleanor Roosevelt

I'm afraid these little ""stocking books"" are being overdone this year. This one, on Mrs. Roosevelt's name, will have a special pull, which may carry it past the symbolic lesson value of the story. It is a contrast in two Christmases, -- Holland 1939 and Holland 1940, -- both war years, but one with the German occupation smothering the spirit of Christmas, until in the heart of a child, that spirit shines through. Definitely a book to be presented to a child by a sympathetic adult.
