KIRKUS REVIEW

Contagious travel writing by an accomplished team this is a non-routine, mobile account of their happy wanderings. Based on their 30 foot cruiser, their discovery of the Province of Quebec was affected not only by their own boat, but by chartered boats, cars, bus, freighter -- and shank's mare; their delights in the foreign land were found in the magnificent distances, the cities and the valleys, the forests and shores, the rivers, gulf and coast. Down the St. Lawrence, up the Saguenay, island hopping, into Quebec Labrador and the Cote Nord, along the south shore, the Gaspe, an untouristy tour of Quebec, the city, and Montreal, and a friendly curiosity for the ways of life not theirs, for the history of a strange country, and a deep appreciation of a courteous, generous, helpful, proud people, -- all this adds up to a shared personal adventure which is not only informative for the traveler and the stay at home, but enjoyable reading as well.
