UNIONS BEFORE THE BAR

The struggle of labor unions for the past one hundred and fifty years in local, state and federal courts is here told through twenty-five cases which have effected their growth and influence. The drama of each of these cases has been caught, and they return in time to when a handful of bootmakers organized in Philadelphia to raise vages to the recent case of the United States versus John L. Lewis in his refusal to abide by a court decision. There are cases involving injunctions, picketing, free speech, sit down strikes, etc. and although the author indicates his sympathy towards labor, he endesvors to be fair in his interpretation of each issue.
