KIRKUS REVIEW

An extensive revision of the popular 1943 Music Lover's Handbook. It leans toward historical and classical (the section on folk, jazz, and rock is quite weak despite contributions by Albert Goldman and LeRoi Jones, as he is called here) with good coverage given symphonic forms, musical technique, and especially the composers.
