TALES OF THE UNDEAD

A new collection of older tales, here are 23 stories (to be illustrated by the editor) of vampires and visitants, possession and obsession, haunting and hallucination. From the more ornate, gothic styles in the supernatural of Lafoadio Hearn, H.P. Lovecraft, Le Fanu, F. Marion Crawford, to Edith Wharton's classically curious Miss Mary Pask, Helen Null's more modern Clay-Shuttered Doors, this collection also includes such names as Cautier, August Derleth, Vincent Starrett, Eleanor Smith, E.F. Benson, Washington Irving. In a year which has seen several collections such as this, the market is perhaps less predictable- though this new one should provide literary as well as sanguinary satisfaction.
