Gay, gustatory gambles with a Life photographer, who, while making pictures for that magazine, found provender for himself which is tempting for others to try. And he promises, that with proper equipment, one can desist from being a kitchen cripple and become a menu magician. Gypsy Rose Lee says in her introduction that Elisofon went from dark room to kitchen, now prefers a casserole to a camera, and from the adaptations he has made from the Russian, Swedish, Finnish, Latvian, French, South African, Spanish and Mexican, Hawaiian and American- North and South and West-, it is easy to believe that favorites in food can be prepared in your own home. He promises- and scoffers may prove otherwise- that these are less than two hour dishes, suitable for bachelor girls and boys and young couples. The recipes are strong on wine and herbs, but you will learn either how to gorge a general or satisfy a spy. Incidents en route to the recipes are comfortably news and nameworthy and make a cocky behind the cuisine panorama. A specialty in the edibles- but spatial and specific.
