BASIL AND MAGGIE

Some sniggering silliness about a young horseback-rider, Maggie, who gets a clunkish pony, Basil, from an aunt in England just before the ""big horse show on Saturday."" Basil looks and acts the clown, and performs accordingly--until the last event when rain turns the ground to mud and Basil's experience on the rainy English moors enables him to clear the hurdles. The black-and-white pictures are a similarly crude combination of literal rendering and burlesque detailing.
