THE LAND AND PEOPLE OF ZAMBIA by Eliza T. Dresang

THE LAND AND PEOPLE OF ZAMBIA

By

Pub Date: April 7th, 1975
Publisher: Lippincott

Dresang has produced one of the more readable Land and People's here, especially notable for its balanced view of Kenneth Kaunda, the Zambian Lincoln, who usually inspires gushy platitudes at this level. Unfortunately Dr. Livingstone is still sanctified here, though Dresang does take Tim Jeal's objections to the Livingstone legend into grudging account. She also pays some attention to conflicts between traditional and European cultures which Kaunda's humanist ideology attempts to resolve, and to the special problems of women and children in a changing society. Useful.
