A republication of some former verses is added to a new group, some of which will be recognized by readers of The New Yorker and Harper's Bazaar, where they originally appeared. A writer of wit and incisive sensitivity, Miss Bishop is attuned to the shape, color and odor of things and if there is a lack of real substance in the poems, they nevertheless manage to create an illusive, intangible air of the metaphysical which may be a right stimulus for some young minds.
