IF I WERE A HORSE

Daydreaming about waking up one morning to find herself turned into a horse, Jenny pictures herself in all the situations of her everyday life--at breakfast (eating oats from her cereal bowl), at school (answering the roll with a loud neigh), playing with her little brother (who becomes inconspicuously teeny in comparison), attending a friend's birthday party (still a horse but all decked out in frilly dress and ribbons). But ""Maybe she wouldn't know who I was! (new page) Maybe my mother and father wouldn't know me!"" And so the inevitable ending--""I just want to be me, Jenny."" Slight, but there are other Jennys--and Bridgman's child-like line drawings give her fantasy a touch of easy humor.
